In 2006, a new comedy hit the movie scenes, American Dreamz. It has since been released to DVD. From the director of About a Boy, In Good Company, and American Pie, American Dreamz, features Dennis Quaid, Huge Grant, and Mandy Moore.
The Plot of American Dreamz
American Dreamz is a 2006 comedy film that satirizes both popular entertainment and American politics during the second Bush administration. Initial reviews of the film were par at best and it just about broke even at the box office in revenues.
The movie focuses on a slew of topics:
- The entertainment industry
- Teenage fantasy
Joseph Staton, played by Dennis Quaid, has just been re-elected as President of the United States. He decides, for the first time in four years, to read the newspaper, which captivates him; it becomes his obsession. Frightened by the President’s apparent nervous breakdown his Chief of Staff decides to book him as a guest on his favorite television talent show, American Dreamz. This TV show is modelled after the idea of American Idol.
Fans cannot seem to get enough of American Dreamz, hosted by Martin Tweed (played by Hugh Grant). His latest crop of hopefuls includes Sally Kendoo, played by Mandy Moore; a dopey veteran boyfriend William Williams, played by Chris Klein; and Omer Obeidi, played by Sam Golzari. The TV show is sweeping the ratings, and everyone wants to be a dreamer. The competition is fierce, and the stakes are high: to become famous! But when two contestants make it to the final showdown, the audience gets an eyeful of on-air fireworks. As a plot turner, Obeidi, who has ties to the Jihadists, was selected to be on American Dreamz, in a plot to kill the President. He succeeds in getting to the finale. The stage is set for the funny, dramatic, battle to the end.
Quaid you may have seen in the TV Series, Vegas, which aired from 2012-2013. This show has much different plot. Set in 1960s Las Vegas, the series centers on Sheriff Ralph Lamb, played by Dennis Quaid and his dealings with Chicago mobster Vincent Savino (played by Michael Chiklis), who moved west to set up his own operation.
The Lamb character is based on a real-life former rancher, of the same name, who served as Sheriff of Clark County from 1961 to 1979. Lamb served in the military police during World War II and was pressured into duty as Sheriff of Clark County when the Mob begins aggressively taking hold of the Las Vegas gambling industry.
Vincent Savino is manager of the Savoy Hotel. The Savoy is run by the Chicago mob outfit. An expert in gambling, Savino previously ran casinos for the Mob in Havana. He is a high-ranking mob associate and close to Chicago mob capo Angelo LaFratta.
You may wonder how true real casinos match what happens on television. Are there any bonuses at level dealer casinos? Absolutely. While you will find these types of bonuses offered through online gambling venues, the high roller and mainstream casinos will offer incentives to their guests and patrons.
Mandy Moore is an American singer-songwriter and actress. She came to fame in 1999 with her debut single “Candy.” Moore’s acting career began in 2001, when she made her feature film debut with a minor voice role in the comedy Dr. Dolittle 2, before co-starring as Lana Thomas in the comedy The Princess Diaries. The American Dreamz Production Crew
Director Paul Weitz broke into the scene by directing a lot of short films, some of which have gone on to become successful feature films. In 1999 he directed one of the biggest hit movies at the time, American Pie and the subsequent series. About a Boy, which stars American Dreamz actor Hugh Grant, followed the success of American Pie. His next goal is to take on the online movie scene through his website 123movies.com.
Producer Chris Weitz has been said to have given Paul his big break by funding his first feature film. Since then they have partnered up for multiple projects, that have gone on to win critical and commercial accolades. One of Chris Weitz most notable works was that on the set of Twilight: New Moon, which set records as the biggest midnight opening in domestic box office history, grossing an estimated $26.3 million.
